SIOUX FALLS – University of Sioux Falls Volleyball head coach
Joel McCartney announced the signing of four student-athletes, who will continue their academic and athletic careers at USF. Joining the USF Volleyball program are Sydney Daniels of Omaha, Neb., Kaina Roehrkasse of Fort Collins, Colo., Avery Dolliver of Lincoln, Neb. and Tia-Rose Nagami of Pearl City, Hawaii. The NCAA fall signing period opened on Wednesday, Nov. 8, the first day student-athletes could sign a letter of intent.
Sydney Daniels
"This is an outstanding recruiting class for us," McCarntey said of his fall signing class. "I am very excited to announce each of these girls as an addition to our team. All four student-athletes fit perfectly into our system and most importantly, the come from great families that fit our program culture."
A 5-foot-6 setter from Omaha, Neb., Sydney Daniels is the daughter of Lisa and Bryan Daniels. She will join the Cougars after captaining her Millard West High School program this past fall. Daniels earned three letters as the starting setter for the Millard West volleyball program. Playing for her club team, Nebraska Juniors, Daniels helped her team to qualify for the USA Volleyball National Tournament and she was named the PrepVolleyball.com Dream Team Setter in 2016.
Why Sydney chose USF: "USF is the place I felt most at home, both academically and with the volleyball coaches and team. It only took one visit to convince me that it was meant to be."
Kaina Roehrkasse
A 6-foot-2 middle blocker, Kaina Roehrkasse is the daughter of Jan and Bruce Roerhkasse. Kaina is set to join the Cougars after finishing her career at Fort Collins High School this fall. Roehrkasse was a four-year starter for the 2017 conference champion Lambkin volleyball team and was a 2017 Colorado All-State All-Star. In the club season, Roehrkasse plays for NORCO Volleyball Club and she led her club to the Far West Regional Championship, which qualified them for the USA Volleyball National Tournament.
Why Kaina chose USF: "USF and Coo Volleyball is not only competitive, it also feels like family. I instantly knew it was the perfect fit for me to become a Cougar."
Avery Dolliver
A 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Lincoln, Neb., Avery Dolliver is the daughter of Chasity Johnson and Jon Dolliver. She will join the USF Volleyball program after starting for four years at Lincoln Christian High School, where she earned first team All-Centennial Conference honors as a junior and senior, and third team All-State honors in 2016. Playing for Nebraska One during the club season, Dolliver led her team to the 2017 Great Plains Regional Championship and helped her team qualify for the USA Volleyball National Championship each of the past two seasons.
Why Avery chose USF: I absolutely fell in love with the program the first time I visited. The Christ-centered and competitive environment is unbelievable."
Tia-Rose Nagami
A 5-foot-1 defensive specialist from Pearl City, Hawaii, Tia-Rose Nagami is the daughter of Robin and Dan Nagami. She will join the Cougar Volleyball program after finishing her career as a four-year letterwinner and starting libero for the Maryknoll volleyball program, which she helped to the No. 4 ranking in the state this past fall. The starting libero for the past eight seasons, Nagami played for the HI Intensity club program and she earned a spot on the USA Volleyball High Performance Youth National Select Team in 2017.
Why Tia-Rose chose USF: "When I made the decision to leave the Island head to the mainland for my college life, a tight-knit ohana (family) was what I valued most. I found that in the USF Volleyball program and the university."
USF Volleyball wraps up the regular season this weekend when they host Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11. The Cougars will hold Parents' Night on Friday then honor their senior class with Senior Day on Saturday.
Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, University of Sioux Falls is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
