Isaiah Jackson

Isaiah Jackson enters his third season with the University of Sioux Falls football coaching staff and his first year as the assistant defensive line coach. Jackson served the past two seasons as the Cougars’ linebacker coach.

Jackson’s linebacker unit was the heart and soul of the 2011 Cougar defense. Under his guidance, USF’s starting backers combined for 226 tackles, ranking 1-2-3-7 in the final statistics. The quartet also added 30 tackles for loss and two interceptions last season.

USF’s pressure between the tackles didn’t allow a single 100-yard rusher last season and held opponents to average only 113.9 rushing ypg. In 2011, the Cougars allowed 21.6 points per game, held four opponents to less than 15 points and recorded a shutout win over South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

In 2010, Jackson mentored three Great Plains all-conference performers and one all-american. USF's defense concluded the season nationally ranked No. 1 in scoring defense (8.5 points per game), pass defense (113 yards per game) and total yards (206.1 yards per game).

Jackson also coached the Cougars linebacker unit to an exceptional performance at the 2010 NAIA national championship, where his USF LB Eric Anderson recorded 17 tackles and 2 sacks to be named the defensive player of the game.

As a linebacker at South Dakota State University in Brookings, Jackson was a four-time letterwinner. During his tenure, he played in 44 games where he totaled 157 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss. Jackson also tallied forced four fumbles and three sacks for the Jackrabbits.

In addition to being an all-region football player during his prep days at Chandler High School in Chandler, Ariz., Jackson was a state champion in track and field.

Jackson received his master’s degree in education from the University of Sioux Falls in May of 2012.
