Rutherford Earns First Team All-NSIC Honors

Sioux Falls' sophomore Tavia Rutherford was named a first team all-conference performer, announced by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wednesday. Rutherford receives the honor one day after placing 11th at the NCAA Central Regional Championship.

The NSIC post-season awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.

In her second season, Rutherford led the Cougars with seven top-10 finishes and an 81.38 stroke average, which ranked sixth in the conference.

She began her post-season with a tie for ninth at the NSIC Championships before earning an individual invite to the Super Regional, where Rutherford played to a fourth place ranking on the leaderboard through the first two rounds. She finished her season scoring a 79 or better in three of her final four rounds of 2012-13.

Rutherford is the first USF golfer to achieve NSIC all-conference recognition, as 2012-13 marked the Cougars' first season as full-fledged members of the NSIC and NCAA DII.
