SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Alivia Forshey has been named assistant softball coach at the University of Sioux Falls, according to an announcement today (Wednesday, August 11) by USF Head Coach
Shannon Pivovar.
Forshey, a former three-time NFCA Scholar Athlete as an infielder at Bowling Green University, joins USF after serving as graduate manager for softball at North Dakota State University for two seasons.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Alivia to our Cougar family," said Pivovar. "She brings with her experience from winning cultures along with a 'can do' mentality that will complement the foundation we have set. Throughout the interview process, Alivia showed her dedication to the development of each student-athlete both on and off the softball field - values which align perfectly with the vision of our program. I cannot wait for her to get to know each of our current and future student-athletes and start leaving her imprint on this program," said Pivovar.
While Forshey was a member of the NDSU staff, the Bison won 23 games, which included the shortened 2020 season. In her time at NDSU, five players were named to the Summit League Academic All-League Team, two on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team, and one to the Summit League Softball All-Tournament Team.
"I am so excited about the potential of this program and can't wait to get started with the team and Coach Piv! USF has a great athletic community, and I am honored to be joining that family," said Forshey, who this summer (2021) coached the Beverly Bandits, a top-ranked travel team in the Midwest.
Originally of Canton, Ohio, Forshey played collegiate softball at Bowling Green where she was an infielder. At BGU, she was also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma, and the National College Athlete Honor Society.
As a prep standout, she set the Canton South High School record for RBIs and slugging percentage. Her coaching resume includes working camps at Total Sports Complex, Bowling Green, Canton South HS, CCSC camps, and various college camps.
Forshey joins a USF Softball Team, which finished the regular season, 23-24, with a 15-14 mark in the NSIC. In the NSIC Postseason Tourney, the Cougars finished 2-2 with both losses by just a single run.
