SIOUX FALLS – Wrapping up the 2018 recruiting class, University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball head coach
Travis Traphagen announced the addition of 6-foot-1 forward Gloria Mulumba of Helsinki, Finland. Mulumba joins the Cougars after a two-year career at Arizona Western College and will complete the signing class along with Krystal Carlson, Jessie Geer, Anna Goodhope, Ke James, Hannah Jones and Addie Wetzel.
"We are thrilled to add Gloria to our team," Traphagen said. "She adds size and depth to our frontcourt and she has experience playing against collegiate level competition. Her frame is ready to play in the NSIC and she will help us immediately in the post."
In the 2017-18 season, Mulumba started 24 games for Arizona Western, averaging 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game to earn All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference second team and All-Region I Division I first team honors. She scored in double figures 14 times, including a season-high 19 points, leading AWC to a 79-60 win over Scottsdale CC, and grabbed 10 or more rebounds in eight games. Leading the Matadors to a 69-62 win over Phoenix College, Mulumba grabbed a season-high 20 rebounds and finished with a double-double after scoring 12 points.
Under Traphagen's guidance, the Cougars are coming off their fourth consecutive winning season and third straight trip to the NSIC/Sanford health Women's Basketball Tournament semifinals, which includes back-to-back trips to the title game in 2016 and 2017 and the tournament title in 2016. For 2018-19, the Cougars return 11 letterwinners from a 16-win squad, including eight with experience in the starting lineup.
