BURNSVILLE, MINN. – After recording a "perfect weekend," University of Sioux Falls Tennis standout
Joelle Thorfinnson has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week for the first time, according to an announcement today (March 2) by the league office.

Thorfinnson, becomes the third USF Tennis player to earn NSIC Player of the Week honors. She joined
Chloe Jefferies who was honored on Feb. 13, 2018 and Joey
Wenborg who won the honor on Feb. 29, 2016 as USF's first
NSIC POW.
This past weekend, Thorfinnson, who is 6-2 overall and 5-2 in NSIC matches, played a central role as the Cougars (7-2, 6-2 NSIC) swept Minnesota State (6-1), Gustavus Adolphus (5-2) and Southwest Minnesota State (7-1). She had a 6-0 record combined in singles and doubles competition.
Thorfinnson extended her winning streak to five straight with three straight set wins of 6-3, 6-1 over Lauren Goth on Feb. 28, 6-1, 6-4 over Jo Carlson of Gustavus Adolphus on Feb. 29 and 6-0, 6-0, over Cara Berkner of SMSU. She won 36-of-45 contested games. In total this year, she has five straight set victories.
In doubles, she teamed with
Rachel Klatt to defeat MSU, 6-1, and SMSU, 6-1. Against Gustavus Adolphus, she and
Megan Quandt took a 6-4 decision. She is 7-1 in doubles play this season at at No. 1 or No. 2. She is 3-1 at No. 1 and 4-0 at No. 2 doubles.
