Meekins enters his first season with USF Men's Wrestling.
A native of Westland, Michigan, Meekins boasts a decorated career across multiple collegiate levels. He is a two-time NJCAA All-American, winning third place in 2022 and fourth place in 2021 at 133 pounds. In 2022, he was crowned the NJCAA North Central District Champion while earning ICCAC Champion honors in 2021. After transferring to St. Cloud State University in 2022, Meekins continued to excel on the mat by becoming a two-time NCAA Division II National Qualifier, a Super Region V Champion in 2023, and earning a third-place finish at Super Region V in 2024.Â
In addition to his on-the-mat success, Meekins is a three-time team captain, having held leadership roles at Westland John Glenn High School, Indian Hills Community College, and St. Cloud State. His ability to lead by example and foster a culture of discipline and accountability has been a hallmark of every team he's been a part of.Â
Off the mat, Meekins earned his bachelor's degree in liberal studies with a focus in health and physical education. He brings valuable experience from the classroom and summer coaching stints, including his work with youth and high school wrestlers at the Fury Wrestling Factory in Michigan.Â
Meekins was also a standout at the prep level, winning over 200 matches at Westland John Glenn and placing twice at the Michigan High School State Championships. He helped lead three teams to regional titles and one Final Four appearance.Â
