John Rodman is in his third year as a volunteer assistant coach for the cross country and track teams at the University of Sioux Falls.

Rodman has been a physical education teacher in the Sioux Falls school district for 30 years with the last 18 years being at Harvey Dunn Elementary. Rodman was also an assistant cross country and track coach at Sioux Falls Lincoln High school from 1991-2004, working along side USF alum and former USF track athlete, Mark Greeno. He also served one season as a volunteer assistant cross country coach at Brookings High School in 1990. Rodman has also been heavily involved in the Sioux Falls running community directing youth cross country meets for the past 14 years.

In addition to teaching and coaching over the past 30 years Rodman has served on several state and national Physical Education committees, has authored a book titled “Games and Activities for Quality Physical Education” (2001) and has served as an adjunct professor for USF since 2009, teaching a physical education methods class for graduate students in the education department.

Rodman is a native of Redfield, SD and holds a BS in Health and Physical Education as well as Political Science from South Dakota State University (1990) and MS from South Dakota State in Physical Education, Teacher Education (1996). During his undergrad years at South Dakota State, Rodman was a member of the highly successful Jackrabbit cross country and track teams.

Rodman and his wife Trudy have 3 children (Cassidy 23, Sydney 21 and Lucas 18).
