Trevor McKown enters his first season as a graduate assistant with the University of Sioux Falls women’s basketball coaching staff.
McKown joins the Cougars program after spending three years as a volunteer assistant at the University of South Dakota where he helped the Coyotes to a Summit League Conference Tournament title and a NCAA tournament appearance in his final year with the program. During his time in Vermillion, McKown worked primarily with post players and coached two Summit League Tournament MVP’s as well as the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year. He also was responsible for recruiting male students to develop a practice team and coached the practice team through the opponents scout.
While at USD, McKown also worked on his Masters in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Science which he earned in 2014.
The Hot Springs, S.D. native earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin where he was also a member of the men's basketball team. McKown saw action in each of his four seasons at Lakeland and also started during his junior and senior campaigns. In his final two seasons with the Muskies, McKown was named team captain while also being named to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament team during his freshman, junior and senior seasons. During his career with the Muskies, he averaged 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game with single-game career highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
McKown attended Lakeland College after a successful prep career at Hot Springs High School where he was a three-year letterwinner and a three-year captain for the Bison.
McKown plans to pursue his Master’s in Business Administration while serving as a graduate assistant at USF.
