Doug Petersen

Doug Petersen completed his sixth season (tenth overall at USF) as Director of the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field/Cross Country Program in 2023. Prior to becoming Director, he was head coach of both the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country programs. Petersen retired after the 2023 Cross Country season.

Before coming to USF, Petersen had a Hall of Fame coaching career with Adrian High School in Adrian, Minnesota.

Petersen has made a significant impact since taking over the track & field and cross country programs. During his time, Petersen has coached 13 NSIC Individual Champions, 23 National Qualifiers, 15 All Americans and three NSIC Elite 18 Award Recipients

Doug and his wife Terri live in Sioux Falls, S.D. and have six children and 20 grandchildren.
