Thomas Frames scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half and reserve forward
Luther Suggs scored a season-high 20 points as Sioux Falls picked up its third straight victory, defeating Midland Lutheran College, 87-80, Saturday afternoon in Fremont, Neb.
The win keeps Sioux Falls a perfect 9-0 against the Warriors in GPAC competition.
In the first half, the Warriors came out fast, taking a 9-2 lead in the initial 3:48. It didn't take long for the Cougars to erase the advantage, though. Over the next 10:39, the Cougars used a 23-7 spurt, including a 15-0 run, to grab a 25-16 lead.
The Warriors used a run of their own, outscoring the Cougars 14-2 during the next 3:30 to grab the lead again, 30-27.
USF (12-10, 4-6 GPAC) led 34-32 at halftime and never trailed in the second half, though the Warriors (6-17, 4-8) tied the game at 50 with 12:10 to play.
The Cougars used a 7-0 spurt to push a 66-64 lead to 73-64 with 5:44 left. Midland got within 73-71 with 4:24 left, but Frames hit a 3-pointer and Suggs added a jumper and two free throws to push the Cougar lead back to 80-71 with 2:35 to play.

It was one of the better offensive days for the Cougars, going 30-57 (52.6 percent) from the field, and 6-14 from behind the arc. Free-throw shooting also proved critical, as they went 21-28 (75 percent). For the Warriors, they shot 51.9 percent on the day (28-54), and were 19-27 (70.4 percent) from the charity stripe.
Sioux Falls will be back on the road this Wednesday when it faces Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
