USF Men's Basketball Outshot at BSU

The University of Sioux Falls men's basketball team's shooting woes continued Sunday night in Bemidji, Minn. where they shot 25.9% from the field resulting in a 68-49 loss to Bemidji State University. USF has now dropped four straight.

After trailing by as many as five points in the first half, USF claimed the lead when Keith Cutler found Skyler Bloch for a jumper at the 8 minute mark to go up 20-18.

The two teams went blow for blow over the remaining minutes of the half, where they recorded four lead changes and three ties.

BSU went ahead four points when James Ellisor broke loose from the pack for a big fastbreak dunk, but USF responded by sending three players to the free throw line over the final three minutes of the half and Bloch's free throw make with 58 seconds left in the half notted it up at 27 for what proved to be the score at the break.

The Beavers heated up in the second half, where they carried out a 20-3 run over the final seven minutes of the game.

BSU took a six point lead when Maxie Rosenbloom converted a traditional three point play following a David Maxwell foul, but the Cougars stuck around and tied it back up when Maxwell nailed a game-tying jumper at the 8:39 mark. Maxwell's shot made it 44-44.

USF went cold over the next eight minutes, where they would score just four points, while allowing 24 by the Beavers and watch BSU pick up their second win of the season.

Ellisor paced BSU's second half eruption with 14 points in the second period. He finished with a game high 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Bloch had another big night as he posted 17 points and 12 rebounds for the first USF double-double this season. Cutler followed up Saturday's effort with another double digit night. He finished with 11 points and four boards.

The Cougars return to action Friday (Nov.25) when they travel to Golden, Colo. to take on Regis University at 7:00p.m. (MTN).
