The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team finished up the second day at the NSIC Fall Championships and sit in 8th place as a team heading into the spring season with a team score of 727 (+151).
The Cougars were led by Tavia Rutherford who matched her day one performance with another round of 81 (+9). Rutherford sits in a tie for fourth place after the fall portion of the NSIC Championships with her score of 162 (+18).
Mikaela Theobald was the next Cougar finisher as she recorded a score of 184 (+40) over the two rounds. Theobald is currently in a tie for 33rd heading into the spring season.
Kelsey Leif rebounded from a difficult day one, improving her score by 12 strokes. Leif shot a 90 on the second day of competition and is sitting in a tie for 38th.
Audrey Kiezwski (194, +50) and Tia Nihart (196, +52) were the final Cougar finishers at the Fall Championships.
“We need to minimize our mistakes if we are going to be able to compete at this level,” said head coach Ty Dannenbring. “We did have some moral victories on this trip and I'm proud of the girls for not giving up.”
The spring portion of the NSIC Women's Golf Championships will be played on April 26-27 in Morton, Minn.
