The University of Sioux Falls men's golf team combined to shoot a 305, 18-over par second round score Saturday to place tenth (304-305=609) out of 12 NSIC teams at the Wayne State Spring Invitational hosted Friday and Saturday in Wayne, Neb.

Freshman Nick Gottsleben (75-73=148) represented the Cougars lone player in the top-30 of the individual leaderboard. He tied Charlie West of St. Cloud State for 10^th overall.

Minnesota State (585) maintained their first round margin and finished just nine-over par to capture the team title. Nebraska-Kearney (589) cut 11 strokes off their first round total to make an aggressive climb up the team standings and finish second. Concordia (592), who entered the final round in second, dropped one spot to take third.

Levi Smith (80-73=153) bounced back from a tough opening round with a 73 Saturday to match Gottsleben for the Cougars' lowest round. He tied for 33^rd.

Andrew Nelson, Brennan Thompson and Jon Van't Hul each finished in the top-50. Nelson (74-82=156) tied for 46^th overall, while Thompson (79-78=157) and Van't Hul (76-81=157) finished in a five-way tie for 49^th place.

USF's individual players, Josh Atkins (83-78=161) and Zac Pruner (86-85=171), each bettered their first round score. Atkins' total was good for 59^th place, while Pruner took 71^st.

The Cougars get right back to it next week, when they head to Branson, Mo. for the First Federal Bank Invitational hosted by Henderson State University April 8-9.
