SIOUX FALLS – After taking down its first two conference opponents of the season, University of Sioux Falls Swimming gets their first taste of the cross-town rivalry when they head three blocks south to take on Augustana in a dual on Sunday, Nov. 20 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Elmen Center. The Cougars last competed two weeks ago, topping Northern State and University of Mary in road duals.

Last time out
In their first head-to-head competition with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference programs, USF proved their early-season mettle with two wins. The Cougars edged Northern State, who was picked ahead of them in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, by a 109-95 margin. The Cougars had big days from Allison Eppinga and
Mackenzie Crane, who each won two individual events and swam on winning relays. Overall, the Cougars won eight of the 11 events in the meet and
Kyjana Webber and
Ingelin Lima added individual wins.
Against University of Mary, Sioux Falls started with four straight wins and won eight of the first nine events. With 12 total victories, the Cougars recorded a 142-117 victory.
Maike Doerr led the Cougars with three individual wins capturing the 200 free and sweeping the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Lima Eppinga and Crane each won two individual events and
Michelle Hoffin captured the 200 individual medley title. USF cruised to victories in both of the relays, winning the 400 medley relay by six seconds and the 400 free relay by 14.
Cougars at the top of the NSIC
Over a month into the season, Sioux Falls has certainly established themselves within the NSIC with some of the time times in the league. Allison Eppinga owns three top-five times in the NSIC while
Ingelin Lima and
Mackenzie Crane each have top-five times in two events. Eppinga is second in the 200 back, third in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 back. Lima ranks second and fifth in the 50 and 100 free and Crane is second and fifth in the 500 and 1000 free.
Maike Doerr has three top-ten times, ranking fifth in the 200 butterfly and is ninth in the 500 free and 10th in the 200 free.
Michelle Hoffin's 200 IM time against U-Mary currently ranks ninth in the league.
Second heat
After competing at Augustana on Sunday, the Cougars will compete at the Rochester Invite in Rochester, Minn. on Dec. 2-4 to conclude their first semester of competition.
