USF Tennis earns three wins in singles but drops hard fought 4-3 decision at U-Mary

BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (0-2, 0-2 NSIC) dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to U-Mary (1-1, 1-1 NSIC) at the Capital Racquet and Fitness Center on Sunday afternoon.

U-Mary edged USF, 2-1 in doubles and both teams won three singles matches. With the one point from doubles, the Marauders edged past USF.

"We battled hard today," said USF Head Coach Kevin Grevin. "Megan (Quandt), Victoria (Ambrosia-Cueto) and Joelle (Thorfinnson) played really good matches today. I thought we lost some tough points that hurt us. But we continue to make progress as a team," he said.

Quandt picked up her first win of the season with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 decision over Kelsey Jajom at No. 2 singles. At No. 4 singles, Ambrosia-Cueto picked up her first win in her first singles match as she defeated Daniel Wolf of U-Mary, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. At No. 5 Thorfinnson moved to 1-1 on the season with a 6-3, 6-3 verdict against Kali Askvig of U-Mary. Chloe Jefferies lost a tough battle at No. 1 singles to Tasha Dembo of U-Mary, 7-6, 6-4. USF also had a doubles win with Thorfinnson and Rachel Klatt teaming up for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
