SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (4-4, 4-4 NSIC) recorded its fourth win in last six matches with a 4-0 victory over St. Cloud State (2-7, 2-6 NSIC) at the Huether Family Match Pointe on Saturday. The Cougars won 2-of-3 doubles and won three straight singles matches to clinch the victory.
"We had a great performance tonight with solid play in both doubles and singles," said USF Head Coach
Kevin Grebin, whose team will host Minnesota Duluth at 8:30 a.m. at the Huether Family Match Pointe and wrap up a three-match home stand. "It was great to see the team rebound with a big win. We will try and use the momentum as we face a solid team tomorrow in UMD," he said.
With the victory, USF improved to 1-1 at home this season.
With a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, redshirt sophomore
Chloe Jefferies improved to 3-3 on the season. At No. 2, sophomore
Megan Quandt had another solid performance and improved to 3-4 on the season. She registered a straight set victory for the second time this season. Sophomore
Lexi Miller picked up her first singles win this season with a straight set win at No. 3 singles.
In doubles, USF had wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Miller/
Joelle Thorfinnson moved to 2-3 in doubles with a 6-0 victory. Ambrosio-Cueto and
Kelsie Sanders also won at No. 3 doubles, 6-3. They improved to a team-best 4-1 on the season.
