WARRENSBURG, MO. – Led by the play of sophomores
Sydney Hubbard and
Alex Nutter, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf Team is tied for 10
th after day one of the Jennies Invitational at the Mules National Golf Course.
On the par 71, 5,800-yard course, the Cougars shot a first-round total of 339. Central Missouri leads the team competition with a 29-over par total of 313. Northwest Missouri State is second at 317 and Missouri Western State, third at 321. USF, which is tied with Truman State for 10
th at 339, is one of 14 teams competing at the tourney. Molly Saporito of Central Missouri is the individual lead after carding a two-over par 73. The final round of the tourney will begin on Tuesday for USF at 9:24 am when
Lexi Jonas is the first to tee off. Other USF team member's tee-off times include
Lexi Hanson, 9:32 am;
Kyleigh Moran, 9:40 am;
Sydney Hubbard, 9:48 am;
Alex Nutter, 9:56 am; and
Taylor Sudenga, 10:12 am.
Both Hubbard and Nutter sit in a five-way tie at 30
th. After opening with a 45 on the front nine, Hubbard had five of her nine pars on the back-nine and came in at 39 for a 13-over par total of 84 (45-38) which places her tied for 30th. Among the players she is tied with is teammate
Alex Nutter (46-38-84), who had the best back-nine of the USF golfers. After opening with a 46, she had a 38 as she parred five of her last nine holes and also birdied hole 14. In total Nutter had seven pars.
Sophomore
Kyleigh Moran had an 85 (42-43) on the day which places her tied for 35
th at 14-over par. Moran, who had six pars, opened with a 42 and came home in 43 on the back nine.
Junior
Lexi Hanson, who was recently named the NSIC Women's Golfer of the Week, is tied for 41st after carding a 15-over par total of 86 (46-40). She opened with a 46 and finished in 40 as she had seven pars on the day.
Sophomore
Lexi Jonas carded a 17-over par total of 88 (44-44) which places her tied for 55
th. She finished with six pars after shooting 44 on both the front and back nine.
Also for USF junior
Taylor Sudenga is tied for 61
st after securing a 21-over par total of 92 (45-47). Sudenga, who shot six pars, opened with a 45 and closed with a 47 on the back nine.
