MUSKOGEE, OKLA. – Junior
Lexi Hanson of the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf Team shot a 12-over par 83 and is tied for
57th after the first round of the NCAA DII Central Super Regional which is being held May 6-8 at the Muskogee (Okla.) Golf Course.
Hanson will be back on the course on Tuesday morning (May 7) at 8:30 for the second round. She will be paired up with individuals Hannah Hankinson of Augustana and Alexa Demko of Minot State on the par 71, 5,872-yard course. Hanson is one of six individuals competing along with 12 teams at the 54-hole NCAA DII Central Region Championships with the top four teams and top four individuals advancing to the NCAA DII Championship on May 14-18 at the PGA National Resort and Spain West Palm Beach, Fla.
On Monday, Hanson of
Chanhassen, Minn., who is just the second-ever USF women's golfer to participate at the DII regionals, opened with a 42 on the front nine and finished with a 41. She carded birdies on the par four sixth hole and on par three 12
th hole as well as meeting par on eight holes. She is tied with Sophia Hill of Concordia St. Paul who was also at 12 over par and an 83 for 57th.
Peerada Piddon of Arkansas Tech is at the top of the
leaderboard with a one-under 70 and she is two shots ahead of Aitana Hernandez of Northeastern State. With Piddon leading the way Arkansas Tech holds the lead in the team competition with a 15 over par 299 with Northeastern State, the host school, in second at 18-over par 302.
