LAS VEGAS, NEV. – Led by a pair of top-three finishes from senior
Lexi Hanson and junior
Sydney Hubbard, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf Team placed fifth (332) after day one of the Warrior Vegas Invite, hosted by Winona State, at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
Hanson, a two-time all-region performer, and Hubbard both carded five-over par totals of 77 on the par 72, 5,929 course. For Hanson, she has shot 11 sub-80 rounds this season and is aiming for in fourth top-five finish. Hubbard had her seventh sub-80 round for USF, which is 11 shots off the overall team lead.
At 332, USF is 44 over par and sits behind first place Concordia St. Paul at 33 over and 321. After CSP, Chadron State and Regis are tied for second at 36 over par and 324 while Minot State is just ahead of USF at 42-over par and 330.
Besides the two USF leaders, junior
Kyleigh Moran had a solid day and is tied for 13
th with a 10-over par round of 82. One shot back of Moran is freshman
Annie Balduzzi with a 16-over round of 83. Another USF freshman,
Maggie Veenendall is 30
th with a 15-over par total of 87. Also for USF, juniors
Lexi Jonas and
Alex Nutter are tied for 41
st with 19-over par rounds of 91 while
Maddi Hanson is 45
th with a 20-over par total of 92 with senior
Taylor Sudenga is 50
th with a 25-over par total of 97.
