INDIANAPOLIS - After recording five wins in six games, the University of Sioux Falls Football Team has moved into the NCAA DII Regional Rankings for Super Region 4 at No. 9.
In the third and final NCAA Regional football rankings, USF moved into the rankings after previously being unranked. The Cougars have won two straight games by a combined 83-52 scoring margin with a 45-35 win over Minnesota State on Oct. 30 and a 38-17 victory over Wayne State last weekend. As a result, USF is now 4-1 in road games this season. The Cougars, directed by fifth-year Head Coach
Jon Anderson, have accumulated a 190-to-106 scoring differential over the past six games.
In the rankings in Super Region 4, Colorado Mines (9-1) is ranked first and followed by Angela State (8-2) in second and Augustana (8-2), Bemidji State (8-2), Western Colorado (8-1), Central Washington (6-1), Minnesota Duluth (8-2), Midwestern State (5-2) and then Sioux Falls (7-3) and Colorado Mesa (7-2).
The
NSIC, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (
RMAC), the Lone Star Conference (
LSC) and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (
GNAC) make up the 35-team NCAA Super Region Four this season.
The Division II Football Championship provides for a maximum field of 28 teams, seven from each of the four super regions. Twelve (12) first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions. The top seed in each selection region (super regional) will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
