Lexi Hanson finished tied for 12
th to lead the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf Team to 11
th place with a two-round total of 655 (328-327) at the Natural State Golf Classic at Cypress Creek Golf Club. USF, which recorded 78 pars and 10 birdies during the two-day tourney, will next compete March 8-9 at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational in Edmond, Okla.
Led by the individual medalist Emma Thronged (136 – 66-70), Missouri St. Louis captured the title at 581 (288-293) and finished 20 shots ahead of second place Arkansas Tech at 601 (298-303). USF was 11
th after day one and improved by a shot from 328 on day one to 327 today.
"As a whole, I am very proud of how the team handled themselves during our first tournament," said USF Head Golf Coach
Tavia Rutherford. "We are so thankful to be back to competitive tournament golf. The team was extremely resilient with the wet conditions and battled throughout the entire round. With the warm weather upcoming in Sioux Falls, we look forward to getting outside and prepping for our next event," said Rutherford.
Hanson improved her round score by four shots in finishing 12
th with a 152 (78-74). Today, she had four birdies (holes, 2, 3, 8, 17) and nine pars. She carded a 74 with a two-over 38 on the front nine and then had an even round total of 36 which included three of those birdies and four pars. The NSIC Preseason Player of the Year, finished with five birdies and 19 pars during the two-day tourney.
Senior
Sydney Hubbard checked in with a 32
nd place finish as she was 15-over with her 159 (81-78). Hubbard had a 78 today as she opened at five-over 41 and closed fast with a one-over 37 in a final round that included 12 pars. Hubbard finished the tournament with 20 par holes.
Playing as an individual, junior
Marisa Weeks finished 41
st in her first tournament at USF. She had a two-round total of 163 (85-78). After opening with an 85, Weeks shot a 78 total with a 41 on the front nine and a one-over 37 on the back nine that included two of her three birdies during the tourney. She had nine pars on the day and 13 for the tournament.
Senior
Kyleigh Moran finished tied for 66th with a two-round score of 172 (82-90). On Tuesday, she had a 90 with a 46 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine with a birdie and three pars. She had two birdies in the tourney and 13 pars.
Senior
Lexi Jonas finished tied for 68th at 174 (87-87). She had a birdie on hole nine and seven pars today as she opened at 47 and closed at 40 for the 87. With those pars, she finished with 12 in the two-days plus two birdies.
Sophomore
Annie Balduzzi was tied for 72
nd at 175 (87-88). Balduzzi was consistent throughout the tourney as she finished 31 over par. Today, she followed up an 87 on Monday with an 88 which included a 45 on the front nine with a 43 in the final nine holes as she had five pars and birdied hole 13. She finished with 10 pars and two birdies.
