SIOUX FALLS - The USF Swim team completed the final day of the Coyote Extravaganza today at the Midco Aquatic Center. 

 

Multiple Cougars posted solid times against tough DI and top-tier NSIC competition while landing multiple times that rank highly in the NSIC.

 

Highlights:

-On day 1 Weronika Mrozek improved on her time in the 1000 Free by nearly 7 seconds as she took 2nd place and missed out on the event title by just 0:00.02. Mrozek's previous 1000 Free time sat 36th in DII, her new time is #15 in DII and the top NSIC time by over 3 seconds.
-Valentina Brunelli, the holder of the NSIC's top 500 Free time, posted another great time in the event. Her 5:15.34 on day one would have given her the 4th best time in the NSIC as well. Her top time in the event stills sits #33 in DII.
-Sarah Knox also posted a great time in the 500 Free with her 5:15.57 now being the 7th best time in the NSIC and 66th in DII. In the 400 IM she posted a 4:47.97 which also lands 7th in the NSIC.
-Inte Pas posted three impressive times; a 4:47.12 in the 400 IM (5th in NSIC), a 2:25.38 in the 200 Breast which was less than a second slower than her NSIC leading 2:24.56(20th in DII), a 1:02.94 in the 100 IM (12th in NSIC and 40th in DII).
-Anna Scheglowski's 1:02.71 in the 100 IM led the Cougars in the event and gave her the 7th best time in the NSIC.
-Abby Ford also posted another top 10 time in the 100 Breast with her 1:08.01 which was less than a half second slower than here 5th ranked time in the NSIC.
-Valerie Childs 5th place finish in the 200 Fly gave her the 3rd best time in the NSIC.
 

Head Coach Chris Hamstra on the meet: "Tough weekend. However, we learned a lot about race strategy. The team had to fight to compete at another evening/morning competition, especially after the week of training the just went through. It'll make us better in the long run"
