SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls men's basketball team fell to MSU Mankato, 73-42, tonight.
WHAT HAPPENED
· The Cougars fell behind early and the Mavericks never looked back. Mankato led by as many as 22 points in the first half. Going into the locker room with a 37-17 lead.
· USF fought hard in the second half, but MSU proved too much as they grew their lead to 33 points at one point.
· The Cougars move to 11-7 in conference play and 16-8 overall.
SIOUX FALLS LEADERS
· On a rough shooting night for The Coo, Zane Alm led the team in scoring with 8 points. Shooting 4-4 from the field.
· Noah Puetz and Zane Alm led the Cougars in rebounds each grabbing 4.
· Jake Kettner led USF in assists with 2 and Jack Thompson paced the Cougars with 3 steals to lead the team.
TEAM STATISTICS
· MSU shot the ball better than USF in every category tonight. The Mavericks shot 49% from the field and 43% from 3, while the Cougars shot 29% from the field and went 2-27 from behind the arc.
· The Cougars bench outscored the Mankato bench 17-12.
· The Coo forced 14 turnovers, but only scored 9 points off of those turnovers.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will be back in action next weekend when Winona State and Upper Iowa come to the Stewart Center. The men's game will be played first at 5:30pm followed by the women's game at 7:30 on February 10 against Winona State.
