Crookston, Minn. - The University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball team picked up another win tonight defeating Minnesota Crookston 74-47. This win gets the Cougars back to .500 for the year.
In the first half the Coo came out hot. USF was able to start fast offensively and were able to compete defensively to hold Crookston to 39% shooting from the field and 33% from 3 point range. The Cougars on the other hand were on fire shooting 46% from the field while making 9 3s for 60% shooting. USF went into the halftime locker room with a commanding 41-29 lead.Â
The second half was a lot more of the same from USF and Crookston. The Cougars continued to play stifling defense holding the Golden Eagles to 21% shooting from the field and 12% from behind the arc. USF also cooled down a bit offensively but still shot 37% from the field and made 2 from 3 point land. The Cougars used a 33-18 second half to defeat Crookston 74-47. USF won the rebounding battle 51-33 and had 33 points from their bench. The Cougars also scored 28 points in the paint, 10 fast break points, and 12 points off of Golden Eagle turnovers.Â
LEADERS
Jack Cartwright tied his career high in scoring with 20 points to lead all scorers. Jack Thompson also added 16 points. Â
The Cougars were led in rebounding by Kyle Ingwerson who had a career high 8. Zane Alm had 7 boards and Thompson and Creighton Morisch each chipped in 6 to help the Coo dominate the glass.Â
Jack Thompson had a game high 7 assists to lead USF. Jake Kettner added 2 as well. Thompson played a team high 28 minutes.Â

The Cougars will be back in action Friday January 26. They will be at home in the Stewart Center to take on Northern State starting at 7:30PM.Â
