Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball team picked up their fourth win in a row tonight. They defeated UMary 81-56.
The Coo came out firing in the first half. They were playing stifling defense and shot the ball very well. USF shot 44% from the field and 64% from behind the arc while holding the Marauders to 25% shooting and 1-7 from behind the arc. The Cougar lead was built up to 22 at one point in the first half.
The second half was more of the same from USF as they won the period 38-32. The Cougars kept up their tight defense holding UMary to 36% shooting from the field and 2-6 from behind the arc. USF also kept up their sharp offense shooting 48% from the field and going 5-10 from 3-point range. USF got 45 points from their bench and outscored the Marauders 30-20 in the paint. The Cougars also had 15 points off of UMary turnovers, 23 second chance points, and won the rebounding battle 45-28.
LEADERS
Kyle Ingwerson came off the bench to lead USF in scoring with 18 points. Jack Cartwright added 15 points while Jack Thompson chipped in 13 and Noah Puetz had 11 points. Â
The Cougars were led in rebounding by Ingwerson with a game high 7 boards. Shawn Warrior, Josh Baker, and Zane Alm all had 6 rebounds as well for USF.
Noah Puetz paced the Coo in assists with a game high 5. Jake Kettner added a season high 4 and Alm, Cartwright, Creighton Morisch, Warrior, and Thompson all had 2 assists. Kettner played a team high 30 minutes off the bench.Â
