SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - USF Football hits the rankings for the first time since week 10 in the 2022 season after walking away with a 23-13 victory over (RV) Wayne State this past weekend.
The Cougars are still receiving votes (RV) in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) D2 Coaches Poll but are now 24th in the d2football.com top-25 poll. USF Football saw their last ranking on November 5th, 2022, when they were ranked #25 before falling the Wayne State 31-24 in their final home game of the 2022 season. The Coo saw their highest ranking that season at #11 before hitting a 3-game skid falling to Winona State, Minnesota State and Wayne State.
The Cougars are averaging 30.11 points per game with 271 total points scored this season. With over 3,200 yards of total offense and 36 touchdowns, USF has found success in their passing game with 19 scores and just under 1,800 passing yards. The Cougar defense put on a show this past weekend with three interceptions, six tackles for a loss of 24-yards and some big time stops to help USF advance to 7-2 on the season and 6-2 in the NSIC.
Sioux Falls enters their buy week this weekend before heading across town to take on #14/20 Augustana for the annual 'Key to the City' showdown on November 9th at 1pm. Both USF and Augie hold the top-2 spots in the NSIC standings with each program having just two losses on the season. USF will host SMSU in their final regular season game on November 16th at 1pm where we will also recognize our football graduating class.
