BURNSVILLE, MINN. – USF Women's Golf gets its first NSIC Golfer of the week this year as Sophia Karsnia receives the first honor of her career.
 
Sophia Karsnia entered the second tournament of her freshman year this Monday at the Watkins Invitational. She played well in her first tournament last week as she placed fifteenth and was tied for the team lead after the first round with a score of 76.
 
During the first round of the Watkins Invitational, Sophia set a new personal best with a 4-over par 75. That solid opening score had her tied for 8^th and only a stroke from 4^th. The second round was where she really shined as she rocketed to first with a 2-under 69 to claim her first tournament win of her career. She finished the tournament at 2-over par 144 with the only sub-70 score in the entire tournament.
 
Karsnia's break out round also helped the Cougars card a 290 which was a significant mark in USF history. The 290 round score was the best round score of any team at the Watkins Invitational, the best team score since 2019-20, and the 2^nd best round score for USF since entering DII. The Cougars placed 3^rd at the tournament thanks to Karsnia's fantastic performance and two other Cougars placing in the top-11.
