MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - USF Women's Wrestling took on the Augsburg Auggies tonight, coming away with a 20-28 victory.
The Auggies were open at 103-, 138- and 207-pounds with Ava McNeal (103), Mackenzie Armagost (138) and Zoe Adam (207) picking up the forfeit victories.
At 110-pounds, Paw Hobza took on Amelia Hermanson while recording the first 4-point throw of the night to take an early 4-0 lead. With a 2-point takedown, Hobza took a 6-4 lead at the end of one. With another 4-point throw to open the second period, Hobza picked up four exposure points and a caution point to take the 3:21, 15-5 tech fall and advance to 4-4 on the season and 3-0 in duals.
Paige Denke took on Grey Peck at 124-pounds. With a quick scoring first half of the period, Denke quickly finished the match with a 0:58 pin to advance to 4-6 on the year and 2-0 in dual settings.
Teila Peters bumped up to take on Hannah Wigren at 131-pounds. Peters opened the match with a 2-point takedown and two pushout points before landing a 4-point throw and two sets of exposure points while closing out the match with a 2:20, 11-0 tech fall win. Peters advances to 11-6 on the season and 6–0 in dual settings.
At 145-pounds, Ciana Grate fell to Kelsey Cruz in a 4:05 pin. Grate moves to 7-8 and 3-2 in duals for The Coo.
At 160-pounds, Kylie Hulse took on #9 Nina Makem. In a hard-fight battle, Hulse fell in a 2:56, 10-0 tech fall. Hulse now moves to 9-5 on the year and 2-3 in duals.
Maizy Mathis took on Madison Horn at 180-pounds for the final match of the dual. Mathis fell to Horn in a 2:54 pin and moves to 6-6 on the season and 3-2 in dual settings.
In extra matchups, Aliyah Villarreal took on Kelsey Cruz at 145-pounds getting a 1:33 pin to advance to 2-0 on the year.
Addaly Pals-Miller took on Madison Horn at 145-pounds in an extra match falling in a 4:03 pin while moving to 4-10 on the year and 1-4 in duals.
