Bryn Huber tees off at NSIC Championships

Three Top-Five Finishers Power USF to Second at Tracy Lane Memorial

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team earned a runner-up finish at the Tracy Lane Memorial Invite, held Sept. 14-15 at Bemidji Town & Country Club. The Cougars posted rounds of 321 and 325 to finish the two-round tournament at 646 (+70), securing the highest finish among NSIC programs in the four-team field.

Sioux Falls placed three golfers inside the top five and four inside the top 10, led by Gwen Latunski's second-place finish. Latunski carded matching rounds of 78 to finish at 156 (+12), while Bryn Huber and Abbie Ritzer tied for fifth at 163 (+19).

How It Happened

Sioux Falls opened the tournament with a 321 (+33) behind three scores of 80 or better. Latunski led the way with a 78 (+6), closing her opening round with an even-par 36 on the back nine. Huber and Ritzer each added rounds of 80 (+8), while Sophia Karsnia's 83 (+11) completed the team score.

The Cougars followed with a 325 (+37) in the final round. Latunski again set the pace with a 78, while Karsnia improved by two strokes to card an 81 (+9). Huber and Ritzer each finished with an 83 as USF secured second place and the top finish among the NSIC programs competing in Bemidji.


Top Cougar Performers

Latunski turned in the Cougars' top round on both days, shooting consecutive 78s to finish second overall at 156 (+12). Her runner-up performance comes one week after she tied for 16th at the Central Region Fall Preview, giving her back-to-back top-20 finishes to begin the fall.

Huber and Ritzer gave Sioux Falls two more top-five finishers. Both opened with rounds of 80 before matching one another again with 83s in the final round to finish tied for fifth at 163 (+19). Karsnia rounded out four Cougars inside the top 10, improving from an opening 83 to an 81 and finishing ninth at 164 (+20).

Competing individually, Tanna Phares placed 10th at 165 (+21) following rounds of 82 and 83.
