SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Cross Country teams opened the 2026 season Friday night at the Augustana Twilight, competing against a large field of runners from across the region.
The Cougar men finished 17th in the team standings with a score of 563, while the USF women placed 18th with 509 points. The meet featured 478 competitors in the men's 5,000-meter race and 349 runners in the women's 5,000-meter field.
Men's 5K
Senior Josiah Schroeder led the way for Sioux Falls, crossing the finish line in 16:10.2 to place 88th overall in the 478-runner field. Schroeder's performance marked a new personal best.
Sophomore Easton Klatt was the second Cougar across the line, placing 134th with a time of 16:29.7. Freshman Evan Hubbard followed with a personal-best 16:47.9 to finish 167th, while senior Jace Cofer was close behind in 171st with a personal-best time of 16:48.8.
Sophomore Jaylen Palmer rounded out USF's scoring five, recording a personal best of 17:26.3 to place 289th overall.
Ethan West also recorded a personal best, finishing 319th in 17:40.2. Tucker Lunde crossed the line in 17:56.9 to place 357th, Hunter Penn finished 374th in 18:06.7 and Jackson Drew completed the race in 20:23.2 to place 464th.
Women's 5K
Sophomore Brooklyn Koll paced the Cougar women, finishing 83rd overall in the field of 349 with a time of 19:29.6.
Anjalie Aho followed in 108th place after crossing the line in 19:54.2, while junior Chloe Aanenson gave USF three runners inside the top 120 with a 117th-place finish in 19:58.8.
Junior Olivia Babler was the fourth Cougar across the line, finishing 208th with a time of 21:04.2. Sophomore Faith Traphagen completed the Cougars' scoring five with a 22:01.9 performance to finish 258th overall.
Cameen McFarquhar finished 274th in 22:19.8, while freshman Kiley Pendergast rounded out the USF contingent with a time of 23:32.1 to place 311th.
