BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season with a tie for 10th place at the Central Region Fall Preview, held Sept. 8-9 at Adams Pointe Golf Club. The Cougars finished the two-round event with a team score of 625 (+49), placing as the second-highest NSIC program in the 16-team regional field.

Gwen Latunski led Sioux Falls throughout the tournament, finishing tied for 16th overall with a 151 (+7). The sophomore opened with a 74 (+2), the lowest round by a Cougar at the event, before adding a 77 in the final round. Molly Halvorson also provided a strong showing while competing as an individual, finishing tied for 44th.

How It Happened

Sioux Falls opened the Central Region Fall Preview with a 309 (+21), putting together four counting scores of 81 or better. Latunski set the pace with a 74, while Abbie Ritzer and Sophia Karsnia each carded rounds of 77. Bryn Huber rounded out the opening-round team score with an 81.

The Cougars followed with a 316 (+28) in round two to finish tied with Minnesota State for 10th. Latunski and Tanna Phares led the final-round effort with matching 77s, while Huber and Ritzer each added an 81. USF's finish placed the Cougars behind only Augustana among NSIC teams competing in the regional preview.

Top Cougar Performers

Latunski paced USF with rounds of 74 and 77 for a 151 (+7), earning a tie for 16th. Her opening round featured a one-under 35 on the front nine as she positioned herself among the tournament leaders early.

Ritzer finished tied for 50th at 158 (+14) after rounds of 77 and 81, while Karsnia tied for 56th at 160 (+16). Huber posted matching rounds of 81 to finish tied for 62nd at 162 (+18). Phares made one of the biggest improvements on the team, bouncing back from an opening 87 with a 77 in round two to finish at 164 (+20).

Competing individually, Halvorson improved five strokes between rounds, following an 81 with a 76 to finish tied for 44th at 157 (+13).
