Redshirted his first season with the Cougars.

High School

Donovan competed in football, basketball, track, and rodeo while attending Sioux Valley High School in Volga, South Dakota. He amassed 4,669 all-purpose yards with 54 touchdowns and recorded 120 tackles, averaging 10.5 yards per carry. Donovan earned All-State honors, was a three-time All-Conference selection, a three-time Big East honoree, and a three-time state track placer. He was also a four-time high school rodeo finalist and a varsity basketball player. Academically, Donovan was an honor roll student and named Student of the Month.

Donovan is the son of Todd and Sarah Rose and has one sibling: Hunter.
