Biography

Career
An explosive scoring guard who made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season, Brogan Madson appeared in and started all 30 games for the Cougars, totaling 919 minutes while averaging 30.6 minutes per contest. Madson poured in 574 points at a 19.1 points-per-game clip while shooting 45.8 percent from the field, adding 48 three-pointers and converting 158 free throws. He also contributed 73 rebounds, 91 assists, 36 steals, and two blocks in a breakout freshman campaign that quickly established him as one of the NSIC’s premier guards.

2025-26 (Freshman)
Madson delivered one of the most impressive freshman seasons in program history, starting all 30 games while leading the Cougars in scoring at 19.1 points per game. He shot 184-of-402 (45.8 percent) from the field, knocked down 48 three-pointers, and converted 158-of-225 free throws while averaging 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Madson recorded 15 games of 20 or more points, including eight performances of 23 points or more.

His signature moment came on February 18 against Wayne State, when he exploded for a career-high 45 points to tie the USF Division II-era single-game scoring record, shooting 14-of-18 from the floor while adding six assists. He followed that performance with 31 points in the road rivalry matchup at Augustana, knocking down six three-pointers while grabbing a season-high seven rebounds. Madson also posted a 33-point outing against St. Cloud State and consistently delivered in conference play as one of the league’s most dangerous scorers.

For his standout season, Madson earned NSIC First Team All-Conference honors, was named the NSIC Newcomer of the Year, collected NSIC South Player of the Week recognition, earned NCAA Division II National Player of the Week honors, and was recognized three times as a Dave & Buster’s USF Athlete of the Week, in addition to being named the Chick-fil-A USF Athlete of the Month.

High School
Madson competed as a dual-sport athlete at Mankato East High School where he starred as both a point guard and wide receiver. He finished as the all-time leader in points, assists, and steals for the basketball program while also setting school records in receiving yards and receptions on the football field.

Across his prep basketball career, Madson averaged 21.8 points, 5.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game while earning a long list of accolades. He was named All-State, earned All-Conference honors, was selected as the Big Nine Player of the Year, and finished as a top-five finalist for Minnesota Mr. Basketball. In the classroom, he was also recognized as an All-State Academic honoree.

He is the son of Joe and Tiann Madson and has three siblings, Tenley, Jax, and Jordan.
