Career
A developing guard with prior collegiate experience, Owen Bernatz has appeared in two games for the Cougars, totaling six minutes while averaging 3.0 minutes per contest. He has contributed one rebound and two assists while continuing to gain experience at the NCAA Division II level.
2025-26 (Sophomore)
Bernatz appeared in two games during his first season with Sioux Falls, providing backcourt depth while adjusting to the Cougar program. He logged six total minutes and contributed one rebound and two assists in limited action.
He made his Cougar debut against Chadron State, recording an assist in three minutes of play, and followed that with another assist and his first rebound against Peru State. Though his opportunities were limited, Bernatz gained valuable experience within the program.
Previous School (Northwestern-St. Paul)
Prior to joining Sioux Falls, Bernatz was a member of the Northwestern-St. Paul men’s basketball program, gaining collegiate experience before transferring to USF.
High School
Bernatz starred for the Raiders, building a reputation as a dynamic all-around guard. Throughout his prep career, he averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game while earning All-Conference honors three times, All-Section recognition twice, and team captain honors.
In the classroom, Bernatz was an honor roll student, reflecting his commitment to academics alongside athletics.
Personal
Owen enjoys spending time outdoors, including hiking, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He is the son of Melissa and Trent Bernatz and has three siblings: Liam, Jocelyn, and Regan.
