University of Sioux Falls Athletics

Brennan Thompson is in his first year as assistant coach for men's and women's golf at the University of Sioux Falls.

Originally from Sioux Falls, S.D., Thompson was a walk-on who earned a spot on the USF Men's Golf Team. In 2013, Thompson received the SID Award for outstanding contributions to the program and USF.
 
With a strong passion for the game, Thompson will assist Rutherford with the program's operations and functions of the golf program on and off the course.

A graduate of Sioux Falls Washington High School (2008), Thompson earned his Bachelor's degree (social work) from USF in 2014. Later, he graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams College of Social Work in 2015 with a Master of Social Work degree.
 
Since graduation, Thompson worked as a clinical therapist and completed additional graduate courses through the University of South Dakota in Addiction Studies.  He is licensed as a social worker (CSW-PIP), Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC), and Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). Aside from assisting with the golf program, he serves as the Director of Adolescent Substance Use Disorder and Diversion Services at Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare in Sioux Falls while teaching sociology at USF.
 
Thompson serves as a coach for Special Olympics basketball and softball and also competes in distance running. Thompson has completed 14 half marathons, two marathons, a 50K race and many triathlons.
