High School
Nichols graduated from Edina High School, where he competed in wrestling, football, and track and field for the Hornets. On the mat, he was a three-time Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament qualifier, earning a sixth-place finish at the MSHSL State Championships while also collecting two All-Conference honors. He further developed his skills competing with both Minnesota Storm and Minnesota Elite on the club circuit.

Personal
Nichols is the son of Tricia Mingo and Spencer Nichols and has one brother, Brandon Mingo. He plans to major in Business at the University of Sioux Falls. Outside of wrestling, Nichols is an Eagle Scout, owns a small business, and enjoys collecting.
