Andy Janssen

Andy Janssen enters his first season as the head coach of the University of Sioux Falls Women's Soccer program in 2026, bringing more than 15 years of collegiate coaching experience and a proven track record of building championship-caliber programs and developing student-athletes on and off the field.

Janssen arrives at USF following nine highly successful seasons as the associate head coach at NCAA Division I South Dakota State University. During his tenure with the Jackrabbits, SDSU compiled an impressive 121-33-28 overall record, captured two Summit League regular-season championships and five tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament on five occasions.

Serving as recruiting coordinator, Janssen oversaw positional development for the goalkeepers and attacking players while coordinating recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, training session planning, NCAA compliance, and academic oversight. His ability to identify and develop talent played a significant role in establishing South Dakota State as one of the premier mid-major programs in the country.

Prior to South Dakota State, Janssen spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Bemidji State University, where he helped guide the Beavers to a 79-48-10 record and sustained success in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Throughout his coaching career, Janssen has helped develop 89 All-Conference selections, 31 All-Region performers, four Academic All-Americans, 31 Academic All-District honorees, and 74 Academic All-Conference recipients. His programs have also produced 53 conference players of the week, 16 conference players of the year, and earned 18 team academic awards while working alongside three conference Coach of the Year recipients.

Janssen also brings extensive club experience to Sioux Falls, having served as the Director of Coaching and Girls Director for Select FC/Brookings FC. His work in the youth game has further strengthened his reputation as one of the region's top talent developers and mentors.

A former standout collegiate player, Janssen earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern College and his master's degree from Bemidji State University. He also holds an extensive list of advanced coaching licenses and certifications.

Janssen inherits a Cougar program coming off a 6-10-2 season in 2025 and looks to build upon the program's recent progress while establishing a culture centered on player development, competitive excellence, and academic achievement.
