Caleb Meekins enters his second season as an assistant coach with the University of Sioux Falls men's wrestling program in 2026-27. A rising coach with an accomplished collegiate wrestling background, Meekins brings championship experience, proven leadership, and a passion for athlete development to the Cougar program.
Meekins completed his first season on the USF coaching staff in 2025-26, helping guide the Cougars to a 7-9 overall record and a 3-7 mark in NSIC dual competition. Drawing on his experience as a two-time NJCAA All-American and two-time NCAA Division II National Qualifier, he played a key role in the development of the Cougar lineup. He helped mentor Luke Swanson to NSIC Athlete of the Month recognition while supporting a program that continued to thrive academically with two NSIC Team of Excellence honors, five NSIC All-Academic selections, three NWCA Scholar All-Americans, and a CorTrust Scholar-Athlete designation for Calvin Empkey.
A native of Westland, Michigan, Meekins enjoyed a decorated collegiate career across both the junior college and NCAA Division II levels. He began his collegiate career at Indian Hills Community College, where he became a two-time NJCAA All-American at 133 pounds, placing fourth nationally in 2021 and third nationally in 2022. During his sophomore campaign, he captured the NJCAA North Central District Championship after earning ICCAC Conference Champion honors in 2021.
Following his success at Indian Hills, Meekins transferred to St. Cloud State University and continued to establish himself among the nation's top Division II wrestlers. He became a two-time NCAA Division II National Qualifier, winning the Super Region V Championship in 2023 and placing third at Super Region V in 2024.
Beyond his individual accolades, Meekins built a reputation as a respected leader throughout his wrestling career. He served as a team captain at three different levels—Westland John Glenn High School, Indian Hills Community College, and St. Cloud State University—demonstrating his ability to lead by example and foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and hard work.
Off the mat, Meekins earned his bachelor's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in health and physical education. He also gained valuable coaching experience working with youth and high school wrestlers through the Fury Wrestling Factory in Michigan, helping develop the next generation of athletes.
At the prep level, Meekins was one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the history of Westland John Glenn High School. He amassed more than 200 career victories, earned two Michigan High School State Championship placements, and helped lead his teams to three regional championships and a Final Four appearance.
