Kayla State

Kayla State enters her 10th season as the head cheerleading coach at the University of Sioux Falls in 2026-27. Over the past decade, State has been instrumental in leading the Cougar cheer program while fostering a culture centered on school spirit, leadership, and student-athlete development.

Throughout her tenure, State has guided the cheer program in supporting numerous Cougar athletic events, serving as ambassadors for the University of Sioux Falls while promoting school pride and enhancing the game-day experience. Her commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment has helped develop student-athletes both on and off the sidelines.

Prior to joining USF, State gained extensive coaching experience at the high school level, serving as head cheer coach at both Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School and Sioux Falls Christian High School. Her leadership at both programs helped establish strong foundations centered on teamwork, discipline, and community involvement.

A longtime advocate for cheerleading and student engagement, State continues to play a vital role in cultivating school spirit and representing the University of Sioux Falls throughout the community.
