Matt Edwards

Matt Edwards is in his first season as the Director of Strength & Conditioning and his third season at the University of Sioux Falls.

Edwards oversees the development of over 500 student-athletes across 19 programs and assists with the daily operations of the facility. As a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Level 1 USA Weightlifting coach, Edwards brings extensive experience in athlete performance optimization.

Before joining USF, Edwards served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Head Powerlifting Coach at Sterling College, where he designed training programs for over 400 student-athletes across 22 teams. He also gained valuable experience as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Kansas in 2019, working under Coach Zach Woodfin to implement advanced performance tracking technologies.

A former running back for Sterling College, Edwards earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2014, helping his team secure the 2013 KCAC Championship. He went on to earn a master's degree in health and human performance from Fort Hays State University in 2022.

With a passion for athlete development and a strong foundation in data-driven training, Edwards continues to elevate the performance of student-athletes at USF.
