Battling a cold rain the University of Sioux Falls women's soccer squad held Great Plains Athletic Conference opponent Briar Cliff University (4-7-2 overall, 2-4-2 GPAC) scoreless. Unfortunately for the Cougars, the Chargers returned the favor, as the match ended tied at 0-0.
USF did have more chances offensively as they took 27 shots, including nine by senior forward Ashley Dement (Harrisburg, S.D.) and seven by sophomore forward Tasia Murray (Sioux Falls, S.D.). Sophomore Kelsey Van Peursem made eight stops from her goal keeper position. Van Peursem and the Cougar defense have posted four consecutive shut outs.
Next up for USF will be a trip to Jamestown, N.D. to take on Jamestown College (2-10-2) on Saturday, October 17. The Cougars will then return home for a conference match against the top team in the GPAC, Dordt College (12-1, 6-1). The match is set for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21.
