The USF-UND Series
USF Victories: 1
UND Victories: 0

Nov. 5 will be the second meeting between USF and UND in football.

Last time:

  • USF recorded their 7th win of the 2009 season at UND, 28-13 (10/17).

  • USF and UND each finished with 360 offensive yards, USF on 62 snaps, while UND conducted 69 plays.

    • In 2011: USF currently averages 360.1 yards per game; UND averages 323.9 yard per game.

  • USF intercepted three UND passes.

    • The Cougars have forced 20 turnovers on the year (14 interceptions, 6 fumbles) and are 11-1 all-time under head coach Jed Stugart when forcing three or more turnovers.

  • 12 members of the current USF & UND rosters recorded at least one statistic. Nine of them return for UND and three are back for USF.

    • Four of the nine now start for the Fighting Sioux (98 Ross Brennenman, 35 Dan Hendrickson, 20 Justin Belotti and 30 Dominique Hawkins).

    • Number 67, Casey Peters (a four year starter) is the only Cougar in the starting lineup that participated in the 2009 game, where he made the start at center. He has since moved to the right tackle position.

The Numbers Game: USF defeated Black Hills State, 44-20 last month (10/15). The Fighting Sioux also handled BHSU pretty good on Sept. 24, where they came out on top, 53-19.

Block Party: Senior cornerback Angelo Pree has blocked a punt in each of the last three games. At six blocks, the 2011 Cougars can claim the most blocked kicks since 2002. The Fighting Sioux special teams are tied for fourth in the FCS with six blocked kicks.

Reset the Books: Michael Hicks enters Saturday's game averaging 17.8 yards per punt return and 29.2 yards per kick return. The current USF single season records are 15.8 yards per punt return (T. Erickson 2006) and 30.6 yards per kick return (D. Smith 2000).

Streaking: After a rough start, USF enters the game on a five game win streak as both teams sit at 5-3.
