SIOUX FALLS –University of Sioux Falls Head Football Coach Jon Anderson continues to build his staff with the addition of three individuals, who bring a wealth and variety of experience from various levels to the Cougars program. Anderson has named linebackers coach Adam Breske, offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster and wide receivers coach Matt Kloss to his staff.

"I am ecstatic to welcome John (Decoster), Adam (Breske) and Matt (Kloss), all who are talented individuals, who have proven record of success in their various coaching areas," said Anderson. "Each of these guys are focused individuals, solid recruiters, who are excited about this opportunity at a program with a long tradition of excellence, including coming off an NSIC-winning season," he said.

 

Breske will be in his second stint with USF as he was part of the USF staff in 2005-06, which was led by Kalen DeBoer.  Breske, who spent the past year as defensive line coach with Missouri Valley College, was a coach at the University of South Dakota from 2007-15, including a stint as defensive coordinator.  

Breske's coaching career began in 2002, the first of three years on the staff of Central High School in his hometown of Greeley, Colo. After earning his Bachelor's degree in communication from Northern Colorado in 2004, Breske was hired as linebackers and special team's coach at USF. In his second season, the Cougars capped a 14-0 record with an NAIA national championship in 2006.

He began his work at USD as a graduate assistant, was hired full-time after receiving his master's degree in 2009 from USF and spent the 2011 campaign as the Coyotes' co-defensive coordinator. A half a dozen all-conference players benefitted from Breske's teaching including three who earned the distinction in multiple seasons.

Breske was part of the Coyotes transition from the North Central Conference (NCAA DII) to the Great West Conference (FCS – DI) and ultimately to the Missouri Valley Football Conference. He was on staff when the Coyotes knocked off the Big Ten's Minnesota Gophers, 41-38, in 2010 at TCF Bank Stadium. In his first game as defensive coordinator, USD defeated defending FCS national champion and then-No. 1 Eastern Washington, 30-17, in 2011. It was USF's first-ever win over a #1 team at the FCS level.

All league honorees Adam Broders and Shea Williams were both linebackers under Breske from 2008-11. Broders was a three-time all-conference honoree who racked up 280 tackles (23 TFL). Williams was twice named to all-conference teams and had 249 tackles (14 TFL). Ryan Routh (2006-09) also appeared on multiple all-conference teams under Breske. He and his wife, Danielle, have a son, Dylan, and a daughter, Layla.

 

Originally of Coon Rapids, Minn., Kloss begins his first season as wide receivers coach with USF.  Most recently, he was the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at West Virginia State. He coordinated a WVSU passing game that broke the school's passing record. At WVSU, where he worked with Anderson, Decoster and defensive coordinator Nick Benedetto, Kloss was also travel coordinator and academic coordinator for the football program.

Prior to WVSU, he was an assistant football coach at St. Cloud State, working with tight ends and running backs in 2014 before serving as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator in 2015. Kloss has coached a 1,000 yard wide receiver each year as a coach in 2015 and 2016. A letter winner at Minnesota, Kloss earned a B.A. degree in history in 2012 and later picked up his M.E. degree in education administration and leadership from St. Cloud State in 2016.

 

Decoster comes to USF from West Virginia State, where he served as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. In 2015 Decoster's offensive line paved the way for running back Tyrone Barber to rush for a school-record 10 TDs while the team produced 20 rushing TD's as an offense overall, which was 15 more than 2015. In 2016, WVSU's rushing offense finished fifth all-time in school history, improving on mark of the 2015 squad that had held the fifth best mark all-time. The 20WVSU offensive line blocked for a quarterback that broke the all-time passing yards mark and was part of an offense that set a school record for TDs with 65. In addition, the 2015 squad set a record for points scored at 336.
 
Prior to WVSU, he spent two seasons as an offensive line graduate assistant at the University of Nevada, Reno. While at Nevada he helped develop Joel Bitonio, a 2013 first team All-Mountain West selection, into the second-highest draft pick (2nd Rd, 2014, Cleveland Browns) in school history and Matt Galas, an All-Mountain West selection as a senior, into a two-time Rimington Award Watch List candidate at center.

A native of Miramar, Fla., Decoster was a four-year letter winner at the University of Louisiana from 2006-2010. He started four years at right tackle on an offensive line that was seventh in the country rushing in 2007 and 2008 as well as ranking in the top 20 in sacks allowed in 2007 and 2009.
 
Decoster earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 2010. He completed his Master's degree in Education Leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno in May 2015.  He and his wife, Amber, were married this past July (2016).
