DES MOINES, Iowa - Opening competition at the Drake Relays, University of Sioux Falls Track & Field's pole vaulters represented their program well, recording a pair of top-10 finishes in the Division I-laden field.
Jagger Gran took sixth, tying his season-best, and
Scott Greenman was ninth to lead the Cougars.
Gran, who entered the competition ranked fifth in Division II, tied his season-best at 5.15 meters (16 feet-10.75 inches) to place sixth overall and the highest D2 competitor. Greenman is ranked third in Division II with his USF record-tying mark and he placed ninth on Friday with a 5.00-meter (16-4.75) clearance.
Nationally ranked at 12th and 14th in Division II, Chase Jensen and Jacob Zebedee also vaulted on Friday. Zebedee cleared his opening height of 4.85 meters (15-11.00) on his first attempt, tying for 16th overall and fourth among Division II competitors. Jensen did not record a mark on Friday, holding onto his No. 12 mark in D2 this season.
USF's women's pole vaulters Courtney Crandall and Kimberly Peterson hope to represent the Cougar vault program well tomorrow, April 30, at the Drake Relays while the rest of the team will compete at the Drake Alternative meet in St. Peter, Minn.
