SIOUX FALLS - Nearly a week away from their season opener, University of Sioux Falls won an exhibition contest against Dakota Wesleyan, 3-0, on Wednesday evening. The Cougars continue preseason camp before their season-opening trip to St. Charles, Mo. for the Lindenwood Invitational on Sept. 2 and 3.
For the match, USF out-hit the Tigers 36 kills to 27, finishing with a .311 team attack percentage. Twelve aces, including four by
Megan Hamstad, helped the Cougars to their sweep.
Makenna Rockeman shouldered a heavy offensive night for USF, taking a team-high 23 attack attempts and registering 13 kills. Freshman Kasandra Springer posted five terminations and
Jordan Calef,
Lexi Scott and
Bria Barfnecht each finished with four.
Sydney Schaap and Hamstad split time as setters with Schaap handing out 18 assists -- with a pair of kills -- and Hamstad doling out 15 helpers. Libero
