USF Swimming hosts crosstown rival Augustana on Saturday at Midco Aquatic Center

SIOUX FALLS – As their final home dual of the 2017 calendar year, University of Sioux Falls Swimming will host crosstown rival Augustana on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Midco Aquatic Center. The Cougars are coming off a commanding 165-93 victory over University of Mary and are 1-1 in duals against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams this season.

Like USF, Augustana is in their second season of competition. In the first meeting between the two programs, USF emerged with a 136-125 victory and this year's contest figures to be as tight. In her freshman season, Maike Doerr was key for the Cougars' victory winning three events: 100 and 200 fly and 200 freestyle. Ingelin Lima swept the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle with Kyjana Webber taking second in both.

Heading into this weekend's dual, the Cougars have numerous swimmers ranked in the top 10 of the NSIC performers in their respective events. Lima is sixth and fifth in the 50 and 100 freestyle, Doerr is fifth in the 200 free, Nina Groene is third in the 500 free, and Laex Sanchez Clark is first in the 1,650 free and third in the 1,000 free.

Gigi Bario ranks fourth in the 200 back and sixth in the 100 back. Chantal Kasch ranks sixth in the 200 breaststroke. Doerr and Lima are third and fifth, respectively, in the 100 butterfly, while Doerr is fourth in the league in 200 fly. Doerr owns the third-fastest 400 individual medley relay time in the league, logging that time against U-Mary two weeks ago.
