Box Score BISMARCK— Led by senior
Bria Barfnecht and stout defense, The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball Team (14-7, 9-4 NSIC) rolled to a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-15, 25-14) over U-Mary (3-18, 0-13 NSIC) on Friday night. USF continued its outstanding play with its eighth win in 10 matches.
With the victory, USF improved to 14-7 overall and held firm in a tie for fourth place in the NSIC with Southwest Minnesota State at 9-4.
The USF defense held U-Mary's offense to a .000 hitting percentage while recording six total blocks throughout the contest. In the standout effort on defense, USF allowed the Marauders to convert just 19 kills. Meanwhile USF had 41 kills on 77 attempts for a .416 hitting percentage.Â
Barfnecht paced the Cougar offense with 10 kills on 15 attempts for a hitting percentage of .600. Junior
Abby Feyereisen hit an efficient .875 with seven kills on eight. Senior
Lexi Scott continued her efficient season by posting a .467 hitting percentage behind nine kills from 15 attempts.

Megan Hamstad finished the contest with 36 assists.
USF controlled the first set from the beginning, jumping out to a 10-3 lead behind a pair of kills by senior
Makenna Rockeman and Scott. USF continued rolling through the first set and concluded with 10 of the final 13 points. The Cougars posted a .200 hitting percentage in the first set but held Mary to -.030.
In the second set, USF hit .700 while cruising to a 25-15 win. The Cougars jumped out to an early 10-4 lead behind a pair of kills by Barfnecht. Midway through the set, USF basically put the set on ice with an 8-1 run, which was led by Feyereisen with three kills. Â Â Â
In the third set, USF led 12-10 before going on a 5-0 run as three service aces by senior Anna Petersen helped the Cougars to a 17-10 advantage. With an 8-4 closing run, the Cougars, which hit .444 in the set, closed the match with a 25-14 win in the final set.
USF will hope to continue their recent winning streak as they travel to Minot State on Saturday, Oct. 13 for a 2 p.m. match.
