Box Score SIOUX FALLS— Led by a dominant offensive showing, the University of Sioux Falls Volleyball Team (16-8, 11-5 NSIC) rolled a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-18) Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win over Minnesota State Moorhead at home on Saturday (Oct.20) afternoon.

With the win, USF moved to 11-5 in league play and kept pace with Wayne State for fifth in the NSIC standings.

As a team, USF posted 44 total kills in the match on 107 total attempts for an efficient hitting percentage of .308, while only allowing MSU Moorhead to hit for a .104 clip.
Senior
Bria Barfnecht paced the USF offense with 12 kills on 19 attempts for a hitting percentage of .579.
Lexi Scott, who currently ranks sixth in the NSIC with a .384 hitting percentage, finished with 11 kills on 21 attempts for a .476 clip. Sophomore
Averey Yaksich recorded another double-digit kill match adding 10 to the USF total.

Setter
Krista Goerger accumulated 37 assists throughout the contest, as well as four big service aces in the first set to give the Cougars the momentum early.

USF showed up in the first set ready to play from the beginning, winning the first 11 points of the set behind four aces by Goerger and a trio of kills by junior
Abby Feyereisen. The Cougars didn't look back from there as they went on another four-point run later in the set to gain a 17-4 advantage over MSUM. Feyereisen and Barfnecht each recorded kills in the final two points, and USF took the first set, 25-13. The USF defense held MSUM to a .000 hitting percentage while recording a match high .346 hitting percentage.

In the second set, the senior trio of Barfnecht, Scott, and
Makenna Rockeman overpowered MSUM as they combined for seven kills in the Cougar's first 12 points in the set. Midway through the set, USF broke the 12-12 tie with a seven-point run that broke the game open for the Cougars and gave them a 19-12 advantage. USF would win three of the last four points to win the second set, 25-19. The Cougars posted a hitting percentage of .273 through the set.

In the third set in which USF posted a .324 hitting percentage, both the Cougars and the Dragons exchanged points throughout the first half of the match. Barfnecht and Scott took the set over at the mid-way point, posting four kills in five points to give the Cougars a 19-12 lead. MSUM tried to make a comeback, but freshman
TiaRose Nagami ended the Dragon's chances with a service ace to end the match.
