Box Score SIOUX FALLS—  The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball Team (17-8, 12-5 NSIC) won for the 11
th time in 14 matches as the senior tandem of
Bria Barfnecht and
Lexi Scott each registered 15 kills in a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22) decision over Minnesota State (16-9, 9-8 NSIC) on Friday night at the Stewart Center.

With a 12
th victory in 17 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches, USF moved into sole possession of fifth place in the league standings. Entering play Friday night, USF was tied with Wayne State but the Wildcats were swept by Winona State, 3-0, to fall to 11-6 in league play.Â

With her final kill of the night, Barfnecht reached 1,000 kills in her career. She becomes just the third player in the program's DII era to reach the 1,000-kill plateau. She joins 2014 graduate Emily Johnson (1,094) and career leader and teammate
Makenna Rockeman (1,251) as the only USF players with 1,000 career kills. Rockeman and Barfnecht become the first duo in school history to have 1,000 kills as members of the same team.

In the victory, USF recorded a .328 hitting percentage with 57 kills on 128 attacks. USF was led by Barfnecht, who finished with 15 kills on 26 attempts for a .577 hitting mark. Scott finished the match hitting at an efficient .650 clip on 15 kills in 20 attempts.

Rockeman posted a double digit kill total of 10 on 25 attempts. Junior
Abby Feyereisen added seven kills on 14 attempts for a hitting percentage of .500. Sophomore setter
Krista Goerger had a solid match and registered her sixth double-double of the season with 47 assists and 11 digs. She also recorded three block assists, two service aces and one kill.

MSU opened the first set on a 5-0 run for an early lead. The Cougars, which hit .306, clawed back into the match as sophomore
Averey Yaksich and Scott both had kills. When Yaksich recorded a kill later in the set, the Cougars led, 22-21. USF finished the set by winning three of the last four points. USF took the first set, 25-23, and recorded a .306 (15 kills on 36 attacks) hitting percentage.

The second set was a back-and-forth affair as the teams battled to a 13-13 tie. MSU, which hit .406 (16 kills on 32 attacks), gained control late with a 7-2 run to take the 25-22 decision. USF hit just .212 with 13 kills on 33 attacks.

In a dominating third set in which USF hit .500 (12 kills on 20 attacks), the Cougars jumped out to a 10-4 lead as Barfnecht recorded two kills. From there, USF had a 15-11 run to close out the set for a 2-1 lead.Â

USF closed out the match in four sets by hitting .359 with 17 kills on 39 attacks and took a 25-22 decision. Barfnecht, Scott duo overwhelmed the Maverick defense. The pair posted back-to-back kills late in the set to put USF up, 17-12. MSU fought back to a 22-22 tie. USF ended the set by winning the last three points as Rockeman and Scott had kills and Barfnecht added a service ace on match point.Â

USF will host No.1 Concordia-St. Paul on Senior Appreciation Night on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Stewart Center at 4 p.m. USF will honor the team's five seniors
